Granite Construction to Reconstruct Part of Interstate 5

Granite Construction, has declared the grant of a reconstruction contract to it by the California Department of Transportation. The contract valued around $59 million will require Granite Construction to rebuild a part of Interstate 5 (“I-5”) close to Sacramento.

As per the project scope Granite Construction will rebuild 17.2 miles of I-5 stretching from the San Joaquin County Line to Florin Road. The project work also includes construction of a concrete barrier, new paved median and renewal of the pavement construction utilizing asphalt concrete and concrete. Most of the materials needed for the project work, will be supplied by the Capay, Elkhorn and Bradshaw facilities owned by the company.

The project is anticipated commence its work in May 2011 and will get completed by 2012 September.
