In the recently concluded annual awards night of TEXO, the combined chapters of Associated Builders and Contractors North Texas and Associated General Contractors (AGC), have presented the 2011 Safety Professional of the Year award to Dan Sheridan of Charter Builders, a division of Balfour Beatty Construction. Earlier, in 2010, the Dallas/Fort Worth division of Charter Builders has received the same award.

Since the introduction of the Zero Harm safety drive by Balfour Beatty Construction in 2009, Sheridan has started a good number of constructive initiatives and plans that assisted the company to get considerable recognition for its safety practices. He has assisted Balfour Beatty and Charter Builders in making significant progress towards their aim of accomplishing zero injuries to the common public, zero deaths, and to ensure zero ruin for all the people by 2012.
The award is presented in recognition of the services rendered by the safety professionals who prove their commitment to safety by contributing to the ecological and safety initiatives of their company and assist in improving the level of safety consciousness of the construction industry.
