Foster Wheeler Wins 2010 National Award for Repsol Refinery Expansion Project

Foster Wheeler declared that the Spanish National Society of Professional Industrial Engineers has awarded the 2010 National Prize of Industrial Engineering to its Global Engineering and Construction Group’s subsidiary.

The award, granted under the Engineering Project group, was presented for the role played by Foster Wheeler in Repsol Petróleo’s refinery expansion project in Cartagena (Murcia), Spain. The company provided engineering, procurement and construction management services for a coking complex and a vacuum distillation facility. The firm has deployed its SYDECSM delayed coking technology in the coking complex and expects to complete the work in the Q4 of 2011.

The SYDECSM process supplied by the company is a versatile thermal conversion method utilized by refiners all over the globe. The process is utilized to improve the heavy residue feed and develop it into valuable coke products and transport fuels for applications in metallurgical and fuel markets. The SYDECSM process can be tailor-made to improve the yield of clean liquids, while cutting down the level of fuel coke yields.
