Bechtel Secures Power Transmission Project in Alberta, Canada

ATCO Electric has chosen Bechtel to offer construction and project management services for its Hanna Regional Transmission Development Project located in the province of Alberta, Canada.

The new project will enable ATCO to augment and improve its electrical transmission system in the province’s southeastern part.

Bechtel will provide project and construction services for building new power substations and improving the current substations. It will also assist in placing around 250 miles of new and present transmission lines. ATCO will install new power transmission systems in the Hanna region to support its present transmission facilities and to tide over the growing power demand in the region. The proposed installations will assist in interconnecting wind power production and power distribution for developmental activities.

Bechtel will carry out the project planning, procurement and management services in association with its Canadian partner, Bantrel. The project constructions will commence in the coming summer and is anticipated to get completed in spring 2013.
