NCC Construction Sweden Receives LOI for Expansion of University Hospital in Linköping

Östergötland County Council has issued a letter of intent to NCC Construction Sweden to build a new construction for the University Hospital in Linköping. The project will be carried out as a joint contract by Östergötland County Council and NCC. The value of the project is estimated to be around SEK 400 million.

NCC on its part will perform the work of a coordinating general contractor for the constructions, which includes new construction as well as renovation of the University Hospital in Linköping. Around 60,000 m² of healthcare buildings will be built in the form of extensions to the west and east of the hospital’s main building.

Östergötland County Council is planning for strict ecological implementations in the construction work to facilitate the building to remain environmentally classified to achieve gold rating. The building is designed to consume less than 50 kWh power per every m² of construction.

The project commenced in June 2011 will employ around 40 people in the construction work. The hospital is planning to relocate to the new building in the early part of 2015.
