Downtown Manhattan Property of Mack-Cali Receives LEED Silver Certification

Mack-Cali Realty declared that its property at 125 Broad Street in Downtown Manhattan has been granted LEED-EB: OM Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The office has also earned the distinction of becoming the only office in Manhattan Downtown to earn LEED Silver certification. CodeGreen has offered consulting services for the project construction.

The LEED certified features implemented in the building include ENERGY STAR rating for its energy efficiency, which enabled the building to get ranked among the top 15% of the buildings with similar ratings, and introduction of the improved metering program to assist up- keeping of optimal design efficiencies in the yearly power usage of the building. The construction utilized quality and efficient air filters to improve indoor air quality within the building and upgraded its existing plumbing fixtures. It implemented a non polluting green cleaning program. During the construction process it prevented more than 50% of recyclable products from reaching the landfills and prevented 100% of the durable materials from reaching the waste stream.

Mack-Cali Realty is a fully integrated and self managed real estate investment trust (REIT). It offers tenant-related, construction, development, leasing and management services for its Class A type of real estate clients. The company either possesses or has interests in around 278 properties basically in office/flex and office buildings offering a volume of 32.4 million ft2 in the Northeast. The company provides services to more than 2,000 tenants.
