The community provides accommodation for over 700 senior residents. The solar installation will enable the community to generate enough power to meet its hot water requirement, electricity to its residents, fitness pavilion and laundry facilities while contributing to its environmental commitments.

La Posada, has established its commitment to environmental improvement through the use of sustainable lifestyle initiatives, lighting and landscaping and also by erecting a 3.14 kW PV installation over each of the 35 individual residences known as Park Centre Homes in the community. The new Cogenera solar systems will be installed outside the fitness and spa center of the complex. The ground-located SunDeck solar modules will provide electricity and hot water for the everyday requirements of the community.

For Cogenra, La posada is the first ever solar installation in Arizona. The fully certified solar cogeneration solution provided by the company will be qualified to receive performance-based incentives for solar hot water and solar electric systems offered under the Renewable Energy Credit Purchase Program of Tucson Electric Power (TEP) and from other Arizona utilities. With the availability of dual incentives for the cogeneration systems and other government tax advantages such as accelerated depreciation and tax credit, the solar cogeneration installations in Arizona are able to get back their investment within a period of four to six years, nearly half the period of other standard PV installations.
