HACEP Installs Energy Efficient White PVC Membrane Roofing Material

The Housing Authority of the City of El Paso (HACEP) had selected Monument Roofing Systems for installing the Duro-Last Cool Zone roofing system on its apartment units. The residential complexes are situated at 5300 E. Paisano Drive.

The roofing project covers nearly 575,000 sqft and roofing material made of white PVC membrane has been installed. MONUMENT initiated the project in May, 2010, and has completed it.

Chelsea Complex - one of seven HACEP complexes to receive the Energy-Star Rated, Sustainable Roofing System. (Project total 575,000 sq. ft. 183 buildings).

HACEP owns and maintains the residential apartment complexes. The modernization project, replacing of old roofs, is being funded by the federal stimulus money from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009.

Roofing material made of white PVC membrane has high energy efficiency and sustainability standards. It has the ability to reflect thermal heat and help lower the cost of cooling the buildings. It has Energy Star rating with high emissivity features. The "cool roof" system has "green" benefits and the energy savings enable the project to qualify for the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED certification and energy efficiency incentives.

The buildings had dark roof material, which was replaced with the Duro-Last white "cool roof" material. This material can help conserve water, energy and provide a safe and healthy working environment.

MONUMENT Constructors has connected CLEAResult, a Texas-based energy efficiency company, to the roofing project to identify qualify and quantify the savings that may be available to the HACEP project from the incentive programs of El Paso Electric.
