Skanska Receives Order for Construction of Heat and Power Plant in Sweden
Swedish company Skanska has received an order for the construction of a bio fuel combined heat and power plant in Lund, Sweden for another Swedish company Lunds Energikoncernen AB.
According to the assignment worth SEK 310 million, Skanska will be responsible for the design and construction of the plant. Delivery of fuel from the power plant will be done through a connecting railway. Construction of the plant is likely to commence by March 2012 and is expected to be completed in two years. Once the plant is constructed it is expected that 50,000 households will receive district heating from the plant. The power plant will use bio fuels such as wood chip and straw. This contract will be included as part of its order bookings for the first quarter of 2012.
According to the District Manager of Skanska Sweden, Hans Fransson, this contract is a good opportunity for the company to prove its efficiency in designing and constructing a facility and making it sustainable. Skanska Sweden is involved in civil engineering and building and employs 10,000 people in its business unit. The company is also involved in the construction of residential and commercial buildings.
