The Siemens Building Technologies Division has added new thermal actuators to its Acvatix product line for room and zone applications. Along with an extensive range of accessories, the new thermal actuators offer unprecedented flexibility and efficiency.

Thanks to their new compact design, the new STA.. and STP.. thermal actuators from the Siemens Building Technologies Division are especially well suited for use in tight spaces (for example in floor heating distributors). They can be mounted in any position (even upside-down) and always meet the requirements of protection class IP54 (protection against dust and water spray). Compatibility with existing Siemens valves and, via adapters, with those of third-party manufacturers makes the new actuators an ideal choice for renovations and upgrades. The new actuators are designed in such a way that few adapters are needed to make them compatible with the most widely used floor heating distributors.

The innovative new drive concept with close dimension adaptation provides an ideal valve-actuator combination. Thanks to the close dimension adaptation, the new actuators no longer have a no-load stroke. A no-load stroke occurs when an actuator is imprecisely fitted to a valve and a gap exists between the actuator and stem. No-load strokes lead to imprecise control (oscillations), wasted energy and a noticeable loss in comfort.

The new actuators come in a standard version (white, with integrated cable) as well as a modular version which allows customers to choose between white and black devices and a wide range of cables in lengths from 1 to 15 meters. An extensive range of halogen-free cables, which are usually required in public buildings, is also available, as are cables with an auxiliary switch in case a feedback signal is needed. All cables are equipped with plug-in connections to attach to the actuator, which makes assembly quick and easy.

The thermal actuators in the Acvatix product line are part of Siemens' Environmental Portfolio. In fiscal 2011, revenue from the Portfolio totaled about €30 billion, making Siemens one of the world's largest suppliers of ecofriendly technologies. In the same period, our products and solutions enabled customers to reduce their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by nearly 320 million tons, an amount equal to the total annual CO2emissions of Berlin, Delhi, Hong Kong, Istanbul, London, New York, Singapore and Tokyo.
