AECOM Technology has been chosen as the designer to upgrade the North Road in Qatar as part of the wider Qatar Expressway program. The company offers professional, management and technical support services to clients in over 130 countries around the world.

Dionisio, AECOM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, believes that they can deliver world-class infrastructure network that would change Qatar’s economy for the better. 342 miles of new expressway and service roads will be constructed as a part of a US$20-billion investment. AECOM will work on the North Road, which is a 61-mile road connecting the capital city of Doha with Al Ruwais/ Madinat Al Shamal on the northern coast.
The North Road two-year expressway project will begin immediately and likely to be completed by 2014. The North Road will reduce travel time and increase the accessibility between the two cities. Construction of frontage streets and new interchanges to the expressway has been planned. AECOM will also undertake designing a bicycle lane, context-sensitive artscape and decoration works along the North Road to enhance the overall look of the expressway.
