SRV Wins Construction Contract for Ring Rail Line’s Railway Station

SRV has won the construction project for the Ring Rail Line’s railway station to Helsinki Airport. Construction works will be started at the latter part of October. Construction contract with Finnish Transport Agency was signed on Friday 12 October.

Helsinki Airport’s railway station is the most significant project on the Ring Rail Line, total value of approximately 70 million Euros. SRV has also previously constructed other projects related to Ring Rail Line.

Airport’s station comprises five buildings located entirely or partly underground. Connection from airport terminals to railway station, shafts for stairs and elevators and the station interior works are included in the contract.  In addition, SRV will build approximately 4,5 kilometres of railway tunnels and about one kilometre of entrance tunnels, connecting tunnels and tunnels for repair access. Railway tunnel and the station will be insulated, because glycol has been leaked to airport soil, which can weaken concrete and steel structures.

The project is estimated to be completed by the end of 2014. Traffic on the Ring Rail Line will be started in July 2015.
