Architecture Schools – “Weak On Sustainable Design”

A new survey by the Centre for Education in the Built Environment says that many architecture schools are failing to teach sustainability in building. The report also says that despite the changes 3 years ago to put sustainability at the core of the curriculum, it is rarely considered and is often treated as a one off project.

Also noted is the lack of teacher knowledge in this area, with most schools having to rely on a lone champion of the sustainability cause. Cardiff, the Mackintosh School in Glasgow, Oxford Brookes, Portsmouth, Sheffield and Westminister were architecture schools commended for their approach to sustainability.
