Noah’s Heavy-Duty Ramps Make Playgrounds Compliant with 2010 Americans with Disabilities Act

Noah's Park and Playgrounds, LLC, a U.S. based, commercial park & playground equipment company, offers a quick solution to the federal mandate of the 2010 Americans with Disabilities Act. Starting March 2012, the law requires school districts, licensed childcare centers, and cities to make playgrounds all inclusive for children of all abilities.

The nationwide effort is gaining ground thanks to parents and community groups calling for long-overdue compliance to the American with Disabilities Act of 2010. In an article released August 28, 2013, NPR Journalist, Robert Benincasa, drew national attention to the fact that the 2010 Act guidelines now require ADA access to all public playgrounds. If ADA access is not provided these groups face greater scrutiny from parents and groups who are demanding ADA access be addressed on their school or local park playgrounds.

Noah’s owner, Shan Shepherd, stated, “Across the country, school districts, licensed daycare centers, and cities are coming to grips with the fact they must quickly bring their playgrounds up to code-enforceable standards.” Shepherd shared, “Sadly countless special-needs children across the country are still not able to play on their school or park playgrounds because these groups have not complied with the law. It's unfortunate, but many of these groups think adding a commercial-grade, ADA playground access ramp will cost them a lot of time and money. That is simply not the case. Our heavy-duty, ADA playground ramps are designed to be attached within a matter of minutes to many of the industry's plastic playground border timbers. Once a ramp is attached to the plastic timbers, the playground becomes an ADA accessible playground."

Noah’s has sold and installed hundreds of their commercial-grade ADA playground ramps, which they are able to ship anywhere within the U.S. usually within 1-5 business days. Shepherd said to expect the price for most ADA playground ramps in the industry to cost somewhere between $450 and $900 (not including shipping). ADA playground ramps generally come in full or half lengths, and when installed with the proper type of safety surfacing, make almost any playground instantly accessible or all-inclusive for children of all abilities.

Shepherd stated, “In order for children of all abilities to access their playgrounds and have fun, sometimes special accommodations must be made for them. Installing an ADA playground ramp not only offers instant ADA access to playgrounds, it’s also a way for any child to have as much fun as possible on their school or local park playground.” Noah’s Park and Playgrounds can be reached at https://www.noahsplay.com, email: [email protected].
