Digital Lumens’ Intelligent LED Lighting Systems to Illuminate Greentown Labs’ New Offices

Digital Lumens, the leader in intelligent LED lighting systems, today announced expanded support of Greentown Labs, Greater Boston’s largest clean-energy incubator, with an expanded installation of the Intelligent LED Lighting System in the new headquarters in a 33,000 square-foot space in Somerville, Mass.

The donation reflects Digital Lumens’ continued support of Greentown Labs, which provides prototyping space, a machine shop, an electronics lab, office space and event space to more than 25 companies and organizations employing more than 100 people in the clean energy space. Digital Lumens has been a Greentown sponsor since 2011, providing the intelligent lighting for the organization’s original space in Boston’s Innovation District.

“Greentown’s move to a larger space is an exciting indication of the demand for both physical space and collaboration opportunities among clean energy innovators,” said Tom Pincince, president and CEO of Digital Lumens. “We are pleased to provide the intelligent systems that illuminate the workspace where creative cleantech solutions are developed every day.”

“We are excited about this next step in our partnership and the opportunity to operate with the most energy efficient and sophisticated lighting systems available,” said Emily Reichert, Executive Director, Greentown Labs. “It sends the right signal to our member companies as well as the 5,000 visitors who tour our facilities from around the world each year to learn how our entrepreneurs are solving the world’s biggest energy problems.”

To complete construction, Greentown Labs is wrapping up a $30,000 ‘Greentown Grows’ crowd funding campaign on September 17. Major funding is provided by the City of Somerville, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center and corporate sponsors.

Digital Lumens’ Intelligent LED Lighting Systems are a network of intelligent, high bay LED fixtures with fully integrated sensing and controls, and LightRules management software, that offer improved efficiency and control to industrial customers. Earlier this year, Digital Lumens announced that it has more than 500 large-scale installations of its Intelligent LED Lighting System covering more than 50 million square feet of space, and is now saving customers more than $25 million per year by reducing their combined annual energy consumption by over 250 million kWh.
