Vantage Data Centers (“Vantage”), a leading data center operator, today announced construction completion, Level 5 commissioning and delivery of its first data center on its Quincy, Washington campus for an enterprise customer.
The Vantage Quincy campus features 68 acres of land with access to abundant, low cost hydro-power. The campus features a highly scalable design, master planned for four data center buildings totaling approximately 529,000 square feet and 55 MW of critical IT load.
"Quincy benefits from lower power costs," said Rick Kurtzbein, Analyst at 451 Research. "With abundant hydroelectric power, network connectivity, tax incentives and low risks of natural disasters, Quincy is an emerging datacenter market for enterprises and web companies for either primary datacenter sites or for secondary, disaster recovery sites. The Quincy market allows for lower, ongoing operational costs that benefit datacenter providers, as well as customers in their facilities."
Designed in conjunction with an enterprise customer, the first data center on the Vantage Quincy campus will support up to 9 MW of critical IT load at full capacity. The facility is located on 25 acres of land and is architected to provide extraordinary business resiliency in support of mission critical systems. The 133,000 square foot building features 61,000 square feet of raised floor data center space. The facility is designed to operate at a highly efficient annualized PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of 1.3. Following practices set forth by Vantage’s Santa Clara campus and corporate standards, the Quincy facility has applied for and anticipates receiving LEED Platinum certification. In addition, Vantage worked closely with the Uptime Institute to design and construct the facility to meet Uptime’s rigorous engineering and reliability standards, and was awarded Uptime’s Tier III certification for both design documents and constructed facility.
Designed from the beginning to be sensitive to the surrounding environment, the Vantage Quincy campus features state-of-the-art systems such as a custom-developed indirect evaporative cooling system designed to eliminate impact from outdoor conditions through a closed loop delivery infrastructure, EPA Tier 4 generators that reduce emissions by 90-95% as compared to traditional generator deployments, and LED site lighting designed to significantly reduce energy use.
Vantage has retained 43 acres of additional land in Quincy as well as access to substantial power to support the development of additional turnkey build-to-suit and power-based shell data centers for new customers.
