The Mare Island location is one of seven design centers Blu will be building in select cities across the United States in 2014 and 2015. Ground was broken on the first design center in the Los Angeles area, on January 15th. Blu Design Centers will provide potential clients with an up-close-and-personal experience, where they can explore a Blu home and begin to dream about living in their own. From assessing luxury quality craftsmanship in kitchens and bathrooms to understanding the spaciousness and light from Blu’s architect-designed soaring ceilings and clerestory windows to viewing elegant interior design options, the Blu Design Centers provide an invaluable hands-on experience.

The Blu Design Centers will also showcase Blu’s leading-edge technology, which allows clients to customize their home designs and visualize them in 3-D. With the help of Blu’s on-site design team, clients will be able to start designing their future Blu home at the Center, including their home and any accessory pods, garages, decks, trellises and landscaping. Design Center staff will also work with clients to plan their budgets and financing, help with land searches, and answer questions about the Blu Homes design and building process.

“Our design centers will offer our customers an ongoing way to experience a Blu home in a very hands-on manner, while receiving professional and helpful customer service,” noted Maura McCarthy, Blu Homes Co-Founder and Vice-President of Market Development.

The Blu Design Center on Mare Island will be a 2,300 square foot Breezehouse, clad in clear red cedar. The three-bedroom, two-bath home features a library, rear court, and entry court with a large deck perfect for outdoor entertaining. The Breezehouse includes beautiful luxury fixtures and finishes, including Walker Zanger tile, Caesarstone countertops, Kohler fixtures and KitchenAid stainless steel appliances, as well as high tech options including Nest smoke detectors, whole house audio systems, and Level 2 electric car chargers. The Blu Design Center’s natural landscape design includes spacious decking, a driveway and winding paths made from permeable gravel, beautiful pavers, as well as local and native plantings. All of these elements will help potential clients discover ways to personalize their outdoor spaces, creating a seamless connection between their Blu home and the natural world.
