Fluor Achieves Mechanical Completion for Cytec Carbon Fibers Manufacturing Facility

Fluor Corporation announced today that the company achieved mechanical completion for a manufacturing facility for Cytec Carbon Fibers, LLC, about 10 miles south of Fluor’s major global operations center in Greenville, S.C.

Fluor provided full procurement and construction management services beginning in July 2012 and achieved mechanical completion 20 months later. The completed facility will produce aerospace carbon fiber for aircraft and related use. The facility expansion is adjacent to, and will be integrated with, existing Cytec operations.

“Fluor is pleased to have reached this significant completion milestone for Cytec,” said Juan G. Hernandez, president of Industrial Services for Fluor. “Our company’s successful track record of 80-plus years in South Carolina and the southeast U.S. with our Greenville operations center as the hub exemplifies the value we bring to clients locally and across the globe.”

Cytec’s carbon fiber products offer advanced material solutions for composite applications. Cytec offers a range of carbon fiber products that deliver superior structural, thermal, electrical and frictional performance for a variety of unique applications, including commercial and military aircraft, as well as other applications.
