The ceiling grilles float gracefully above the lobby area of one of the Monroe Street Market buildings. Located directly across from Catholic University and the Basilica, the hip luxury apartments cater to the versatile surroundings of the area.
“One of the challenges of our projects is finding ways to bring the vision to life. When we originally developed the concept of using old street grates hanging from the ceilings everyone fell in love with the idea. It added the unique character that we try to layer into every project we do,” said Jennifer Farris, Senior Design Director at RD Jones. “The logistics of making this concept a reality was difficult. The Tableaux ceiling solution worked beautifully and allowed us to capture the intent while still maintaining a reasonable budget for our client and staying on schedule for construction.”
The Tableaux faux iron decorative grilles are in “The Cornerstone,” the largest of the three buildings at Monroe Street Market. Appealing to the millenials, the residence is an “eclectic mix within an old warehouse loft setting” with painted brick, stained concrete floors and iron accents. The Tableaux ceiling grilles solidify the aesthetic of the space by incorporating a variety of styles in their design.
“The project's design concept was outside the box and beyond what could be considered standard,” said Christian Garces, CEO of Tableaux. “However, the designer's vision was so clear that its execution was effortless.”
The result of the flawless collaboration is a stunning design element that complements the edgy aesthetic while maintaining a vivid personality on its own.
