Granite Construction Part of Team for PennDOT’s Rapid Bridge Replacement Project

Granite Construction Incorporated announced today that it is part of a joint venture team that has been selected by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to deliver the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.

Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners is a consortium comprised of The Plenary Group, The Walsh Group, Granite Construction Company and HDR Engineering. The joint venture of Walsh Construction Company and Granite Construction Company will serve as the design/build contractor on the project. The project is being procured by PennDOT as a public-private partnership.

Under the terms of the design-build contract, the Walsh/Granite joint venture is responsible for the accelerated replacement of 558 geographically dispersed, structurally deficient bridges across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Agreement on all the commercial terms is anticipated to be reached in December 2014. Construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2015 with a projected completion date of December 2017. Granite anticipates booking its 40 percent share of the $899 million contract into backlog once the contract receives final approval and a notice to proceed is issued.
