OMBA Impianti & Engineering, a company belonging to the Malacalza family, has been awarded the contract for an extension of Building 887 (EHN1) with an overall surface of approx. 3600 m2 on the CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research ) Prévessin's site in France.
OMBA carries out directly all stages of the creation of the structures it produces, from design to worksite installation. Always with maximum attention given to quality, safety, time to deliver and environmental protection. The company is located at Torri di Quartesolo – Vicenza, in north-east Italy and it has an area of 80,000 sqm dedicated to work processes and production.
OMBA - as leader of a JV with Dimensione S.p.A. and Fondamenta S.r.l. - will realize the full building including special foundations, concrete foundations, steel structures and facades, completing the "turn-key" project in February 2016.
Once finished, the new extension will house CERN's future Neutrino Detector R&D Experiments, within CENF Project.
The existing CERN facilities will continue to operate during the construction phase, therefore the working methods will be adapted to mitigate any impact from noise, vibration, dust and movement/settlement of existing structures. The contractor shall provide all the necessary tooling and material for the proper execution of the construction works, including machinery and/or vehicles.
