The Insulation Institute, part of the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association, announced today it will host two separate webinars for Dallas and Denver metro area home builders.
The webinars, slated for June 23 and 25 respectively, will examine evolving residential energy efficiency codes — focusing on the changing requirements for insulation in the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) 2009, 2012 and 2015 versions.
Texas and Colorado localities must comply with varying versions of the IECC. Examining the constantly evolving codes can help builders lead their markets by proactively updating building practices before changes become mandatory. Staying ahead of the codes also allows builders to strengthen their selling proposition to prospective home buyers, who are increasingly interested in high energy efficiency.
Constructing high-performance homes, including net zero, is possible and generally more affordable using fiber glass or mineral wool insulation. The webinars will feature an overview of specific code requirements in Texas and Colorado respectively, presented by Jerry Hackney of the Southwest Partnership for Energy Efficiency as a Resource (SPEER) and Jim Meyers with the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP). In addition, representatives from Owens Corning and high-performance home builders New Town Homes in Colorado and Austin Design Build in Texas will discuss how they achieve high levels of energy efficiency with fiber glass.
