Construction Begins for First Phase of $2.9 Million Riverview Hope Campus

The first phase of the $2.9 million Riverview Hope Campus will break ground tomorrow in Fort Smith. Governor Asa Hutchinson will take part in the event at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015, at 301 S. E Street (off Wheeler Avenue) in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The media is encouraged to attend.

In 2015, the Riverview Hope – First Step project was awarded a $500,000 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant from First National Bank of Fort Smith and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) that will assist with renovating a 127,000-square-foot building.

The 75-bed facility will include showers, bathrooms, a kitchen and dining area, outdoor gathering spaces, a library, a medical facility staffed by a local hospital, and room for other organizations to provide services, all under one roof.

AHP grants are available annually through FHLB Dallas member institutions to assist in the development of affordable owner-occupied and rental housing for very low- to moderate-income households located across FHLB Dallas' five-state District of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Texas. In 2015, FHLB Dallas awarded $7.4 million in AHP grants to 32 projects that will result 965 new or renovated housing units.
