Eco Building Products' Core Products Obtain TERs for IBC and IRC Compliance

Eco Building Products, Inc. announced today that it has obtained Technical Evaluation Reports (TERs) by DrJ Engineering certifying that its core products Eco FT™ (Fire Treated), Eco Red Shield AFL™ (Advanced Framing Lumber) and Eco Red Shield SP ™ (Sill Plate) are compliant with 2009, 2012 and 2015 versions of the International Building Code and International Residential Code. DrJ Engineering is an ANSI ISO/IEC 17065 accredited certification body and compliant with IBC Section 1703.

Code conforming TERs give architects, Building Code Officials, and builders the documentation they need to confidently design, approve and build with Eco's protective wood coatings. TERs carrying an engineer's seal are available for downloading from DrJ's website and when necessary can be wet stamped upon request. The Company's TERs can be viewed at http://www.drjcertification.org/client/7/eco-building-products.

"One of the biggest obstacles to bringing any new and innovative building product to market is that building codes often require demonstrated adherence to the alternative materials, design and methods section of the Code. TER's certify that Eco Red Shield FT™, Eco Red Shield AFL™ and Eco Red Shield SP™ meet these standards and are fully IBC and IRC compliant," said Eco's President and CEO, Tom Comery.

Eco's Chief Technical Officer, Mark Vuozzo, added, "We chose DrJ for a variety of reasons not the least of which is we join many other leading building products companies and brands including BASF, Dow, FastenMaster, and Stanley BOSTITCH by aligning with DrJ. Further, by following ASTM and ANSI standards, TERs certify all of Eco's product attributes including mold, fungal decay, termite and fire protections in one complete evaluation whereas other evaluation services focus on narrowly defined acceptance criterion."

Mr. Vuozzo went on to say "Another key advantage is that DrJ's professional engineering staff stands behind and certifies its technical evaluations by signing and sealing its work as a specialty engineering function. DrJ's sealed engineering can be incorporated into any Building Designer's plans and specs."

"The mission of DrJ is to remain focused on good design, installation and accurate code compliance. This means evaluating products for compliance with the specific code provisions that apply, any referenced standards and current science. This should not be a complicated process as if it is then bad construction results," states Kirk Grundahl, P.E. President of DrJ. "By working together we can help innovation flourish, while also assuring reliable long term performance."

"We have to make it easy for our constituents to use our products and the TER certainly makes it easier to gain local approvals. With just a few simple online steps anyone can have a sealed evaluation report for submittal in all 50 states, including Hawaii. We look forward to introducing the TERs to our customers and their builders, architects and local building departments in the coming weeks and months," said Mr. Comery.
