DPR Construction Completes Structural Steel Work for Pasadena’s Shriners Hospital Project

DPR Construction (DPR), one of the nation’s leading technical builders focused on highly complex and sustainable projects, today celebrates the completion of structural steel erection on the new Shriners for Children Medical Center in Pasadena, set to open in mid-2017. DPR is the general contractor on the new state-of-the-art specialty outpatient medical center.

DPR is constructing a new, leading edge outpatient care facility that will include an ambulatory surgical center to house Shriners for Children Medical Center’s clinical, diagnostic, outpatient surgery and rehabilitation units, which will help bring exceptional specialty pediatric care to millions of children regardless of the families’ ability to pay. The project includes demolition of two existing structures and approximately 164,000 square feet of new construction, including three levels of subterranean parking and green roof terraces.

Construction on the new facility began in April 2015, after nearly 16 months of preconstruction. Leading up to today’s milestone, DPR partnered with the design team of SRG and CO Architects to deliver the parking levels one week ahead of schedule.

“We are pleased with the amount of work completed in this short timeframe. This milestone marks a major accomplishment in terms of safety and teamwork and we look forward to the next phase of work,” said Ryan Lippmann, Senior Project Manager for DPR Construction. “We couldn’t have done any of this without a supportive client, team-oriented design professionals, and top-tier trade partners—all of which we have on this team.”
