Yet another key achievement has been announced for Seranit Granit Seramik, a long-standing company, described also as Turkey's most technologically advanced porcelain tile producer. The company has just successfully inaugurated its all-new plant in Bilecik.
Located next to the existing one, this new plant features the very latest machines for both technical and glazed porcelain tile. The Sacmi supplied grinding department features two MTC088 continuous mills, which feed both the new plant and the existing kilns: these mills are characterised by high efficiency and grinding residues among Europe's lowest. To complete the grinding process there is an ATM36 spray dryer for coloured bodies, a 9000 litre-per-hour ATM90 and thirteen MTD mills for glazes and colours.
On the pressing side there are four latest-generation PH4600 presses, equipped with vertical dryers and capable of producing a wide range of
sizes (from 30cm x 30cm to 90cm x 120cm). The die pool, instead, consists of SFS upper-forming dies, which offer cutting-edge pressing force compensation performance. The plant also includes four glazing lines for large tiles and four magnet-guided handling /storage vehicles. The two FMS2600 119.7-metre kilns are also Sacmi-made and are equipped with stand-by fans.
Overall plant capacity ranges from 7,000 to 11,500 square metres perday for technical porcelain and salt-and-pepper tiles. At the inauguration, attended by Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan and other key political figures, Sacmi was represented by the area manager and several members of personnel from Sacmi Istanbul, which, with its 35 employees, offers a constant source of country-wide customer support. In Turkey the Sacmi Group supplies 80% of the installed ceramic machine pool for tilemaking: this close collaboration between Italian ceramic machinery producers and Turkey was also highlighted by the attendance of Pierluigi Ponzoni, the President of Acimac, at the ceremony.
The completion of this new plant for Seranit, which sees Sacmi as its main technological partner, has reinforced the group's relations with this Turkish company further. Seranit Granit Seramik was founded as a glazed porcelain tile producer in 1991, with a manufacturing site covering 102,000 square metres. In 2001 Seranit was taken over by the Sinpas Group and by 2004 was already working with Sacmi on the project for this latest ultra-modern line, which is intended to maintain and improve its outstanding quality standards for many years to come.
