Hydro Polymers Tackling The Poor Environmental Image Of PVC

With Greenpeace working hard to increase public awareness of the dangers of PVC, Hydro Polymers, a UK PVC manufacturer, is moving to tackle the material’s environmental problems. Their moves include launching new products made from recycled PVC, reduction of carbon dioxide emissions and the reduction of lead stabilisers faster than the timetable set by the European PVC industry.

In order to broaden the environmental debate to include other materials, Hydro Polymers are using complete life-cycle studies that show PVC to be environmentally comparable to these competing materials.

Carbon neutrality, recycling, the use of new less toxic additives and reduction in toxic waste materials are other areas being pursued in an effort to lessen the environmental impact of PVCs.
