Moroccan Themed Interior Design Contest Announced by Lighting Importer

Moroccan accent lighting is the theme for this month's interior design contest. The increasingly popular Moorish design trend has sparked a surge in demand for genuine handmade furniture, lighting, and other home décor. With its position as the leader in Moroccan imports, The Moroccan Bazaar is proud to sponsor the design concept and to open new doors to innovative interior designers and architecture professionals seeking unique design alternatives.

The competition is open to professional architects and designers, students of architecture or design, owner/builders, and builders. The contest winner will be required to be creative and recreate a Moroccan inspired space. The project may be a residential home décor project showcasing a bedroom, lounge, patio, living room or a commercial space such as a restaurant, bar hotel or a hookah lounge.

The winning Moroccan space will contain basic elements of design, creativity, and overall esthetics. The project must contain at least one Moroccan home décor item and will emphasize lighting through chandeliers, table and Floor lamps, wall sconces, or outdoor light fixtures.

Entries may use Moroccan inspired light fixtures as long as they are not manufactured as the contest is designed to put a spotlight on the hand made and artistic nature of traditional Moroccan lighting such as the popular henna wall sconces and floor and table lamps.
Applicant must email The Moroccan Bazaar through the website's contact page to receive the terms and conditions of the contest before the March 15th application deadline. The winner will receive $1500.00 and will automatically enter the 2007 "Moroccan design of the year" award. The winner will be notified via email within 15 days of the end of the contest (April 15th)
