Wind turbines for Freedom Tower

The turbulence caused by surrounding buildings normally means wind turbines are not suitable for urban areas but New York’s Freedom Tower is set to change that. The tower, on the site of the World Trade Center, will be the worlds highest building and rises well above the air turbulence caused by surrounding buildings.

The Freedom Tower will house the world’s first building integrated wind farm with a state of the art array of wind turbines. The wind farm is expected to produce over 2.6 million kWh of green electricity annually.
