Flooring replacing floor covering as design trend

The Hillsboro Free Press is reporting that the latest trend for floors in the USA is not soft floor coverings like carpet or vinyl but the actual hard floor surface itself. Such materials gaining rapid popularity include ceramic tile, wood, natural stone and laminates.

Laminate flooring includes top quality products that simply clip together and eliminate the need for glues. Although they can be expensive, such systems tend to mean savings on installation costs.

Wooden floors don’t have to be solid wood any more. Engineered woods are available for floors that are cheaper, more stable and less prone to environmental changes such as bending and warping.

Ceramic tiles can tool fantastic and are very low maintenance but installation is not generally suited to the DIY enthusiast. If not done properly, tiles can be a permanent unattractive feature in the home.
