Halogen Energy Saver Lamps Providing Radisson Hotel With Significant Savings

Decorative and functional, powerful and efficient - the HALOGEN ENERGY SAVER lamps from OSRAM provide superior lighting design with significant savings in operating cost. A concept which also convinced the Radisson SAS Hotel in Frankfurt am Main. Switching 5,000 lamps over to the innovative halogen alternative, the hotel has saved over 30,000 Euro per year in electricity.

As part of the REZIDOR HOTEL GROUP, the Radisson SAS in Frankfurt is dedicated to its “Responsible Business“ philosophy, prioritising eco-friendliness and energy efficiency as key criteria in hotel lighting. With its unique architecture, the hotel proves a real eye-catcher in a city generally defined by skyscrapers. The low power consumption of the lamps not only results in significant savings; it also indirectly protects the environment by lowering the carbon emissions (CO2) by around 88 tons per year. It would take 1,800 trees to offset these emissions.

DECOSTAR 51 ENERGY SAVER: versatile energy saver
Lighting in the Radisson SAS Hotel has many facets. Whether luxurious ambience in the restaurant and hotel bar, multifunctional lighting solutions in the conference and meeting rooms or a feel-good atmosphere in the rooms and even the pool area – the range of HALOGEN ENERGY SAVER lamps from OSRAM provides the right lighting solution for any situation. The DECOSTAR 51 ENERGY SAVER as a powerful low-voltage halogen lamp, for example, is particularly versatile in use. With compelling arguments including constant brightness and exceptional color rendition, it is used for around half of the lighting points in the hotel. Fitted in the recessed ceiling luminaires of the nine conference and meeting rooms in the hotel, they ensure a pleaseant working environment while lending an attractive flair to the entrance areas of the 400+ rooms and suites. In contrast to ordinary halogen lamps, only this lamp can save as much as 65 per cent in cost. This is equated to the special infra-red coating (IRC) developed by OSRAM on the inside of the bulb, which reflects the heat back to the filament. This means that less energy has to be supplied from outside to keep the filament at its operating temperature.

More efficient and more cost-effective than ordinary bulbs
Used in the hotel lobby of the Radisson SAS Hotel, high-voltage halogen lamps such as the HALOGEN ENERGY SAVER CLASSIC A or B provide light that contributes to an inviting ambience. They may look like classic light bulbs. In terms of durability and energy efficiency, however, they clearly outshine ordinary versions. This is due to the use of Xenon as intert filler gas, which prevents the filament from losing too much heat, thus reducing the energy consumption by up to 30 per cent. Easy to fit with a screw base, the high-voltage halogen lamps are operated via the normal power supply and thus are widely used in the Frankfurt hotel – from en-suite bathrooms to the restaurants.
