New Method for Analyzing Corrosion of Concrete Reinforcement Bar

As the U.S. deals with decaying infrastructure, construction firms, state transportation agencies and others responsible for infrastructure safety are seeking ways to ensure they detect weakening concrete structures before disaster strikes.

Now, Switzerland-based Proceq announces the launch of the improved CANIN+ with redesigned 1- and 4-Wheel Electrodes to meet the pressing needs of the construction industry for a robust and intelligent reinforcement bar corrosion-analyzing instrument. With the new 4-Wheel Electrode, Proceq offers the fastest and most productive corrosion-analysis instrument on the market.

Due to a completely integrated and waterproof path measuring system and a durable plug-in connection with robust cables, the superior CANIN+ Wheel Electrodes are now even more adept at functioning in the harshest site conditions.

To meet all customer needs, Proceq offers a wide choice of probes for the CANIN+: The Rod Electrode was developed to test areas below 20m2 (215 sq. ft.) and hard-to-reach surfaces where the Wheel Electrodes are impractical. It is also used for detailed measurements with a fine raster to accurately locate corrosion potential hotspots. The one wheel Electrode was designed for testing larger areas, typically between 20m2 (215 sq. ft.) and 100m2 (1076 sq. ft.). The 4-Wheel Electrode offers a tool for very fast testing of large areas. Its measuring speed can help reduce not only time, but also cost. For example, the 4-Wheel Electrode allows testing bridge decks without having to close the bridge down for long periods of time. In addition, the Wenner probe measures the concrete's electrical resistivity, for further indication of the likelihood of corrosion. It is best used for complementary diagnostics of areas already tested with the Rod and Wheel Electrodes which are based on the half-cell corrosion potential method.

The CANIN+ ProVista Software allows fast and easy analysis of data recorded by the electrodes. It supports efficient documentation of measurements by transferring data from the Canin+ to a PC for display, editing and report generation.

The CANIN+ is supplied with a heavy-duty carrying case, accessories and product documentation. As with all Proceq Products, sales and full service support is available from Proceq's global locations in the USA, Europe, Asia, South America, Middle East and Russia.
