The State of the UK Building Industry According to the CIPS

April figures from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply indicate that there has been sustained expansion in the UK building economy during April as firms took new orders for construction projects.

However, the Construction Purchasing Managers Index (PMI)fell slightly during April from 53.8 to 53.4. This figure designed to give an indication of construction activity, indicated that there was a slowing, with April being the second month in a row, where the PMI had dropped. The headline index indicates that industry activity has slowed to be the weakest since December 2001.
