Balfour Beatty Capital Opens Office in Toronto to Extend Services for Public-Private Partnerships

Balfour Beatty Capital, Inc., a developer, sponsor and operator of public infrastructure projects, today announced it is extending its portfolio of financing, construction and facilities management services for public-private partnerships, also known as PPP, AFP (Alternative Financing & Procurement) or P3, into Canada with the opening of an office in Toronto, Ontario.

The new office, Balfour Beatty Capital-Canada (BBCC) will meet the growing demand in Canada for alternative financing and development solutions for funding and building infrastructure projects and capital improvements. The new office is located at 488 Wellington Street West, Toronto, Ontario.

The addition of BBCC to the well-established Canadian PPP/AFP/P3 market gives the country a substantial new player, with strong capital liquidity as well as design, development, construction and facilities management expertise. The firm’s initial focus will be on the social infrastructure sector, including healthcare, justice, and education, but will pursue additional opportunities in civil programs.

“We have great respect for the PPP/AFP/P3 industry and the processes that have been built and refined in Canada,” says Bruce Robinson, President & CEO, Balfour Beatty Capital, Inc. “We are confident that Balfour Beatty Capital-Canada and its partners can add significant value to these projects and we are committed to providing long-term, integrated solutions which will enhance the viability of the program.”

Balfour Beatty Capital-Canada has the capital liquidity, support and resources of global parent company Balfour Beatty plc, a world-class engineering, construction, services and investment business with a successful history extending back 100 years. Balfour Beatty has developed a proven track record and established successful ventures in construction, public works and PPP/AFP/P3 projects across the globe.

Balfour Beatty is unique in that it offers a full range of capabilities, from construction and in-house design, to facilities management services and financing with proven success in each and all of those functions. It is also an experienced leader in providing and undertaking capital repairs, renovations and lifecycle obligations throughout the life of a project. The firm has an extensive range of resources at its fingertips, including a network of affiliated companies that contribute to the valuable solutions the company offers. These companies include Balfour Beatty Communities, LLC, Balfour Beatty Energy Solutions, LLC, Balfour Beatty Construction Company, Inc., Heery International, Inc., Parsons Brinckerhoff Inc., Balfour Beatty Workplace, Ltd., Balfour Beatty Infrastructure, Inc. and Balfour Beatty Rail, Inc.

Robinson continued, “We are confident that the in-house capabilities of our consortium of partners and affiliated companies will enhance essential public sector assets. We look forward to partnering with like-minded Canadian companies in offering the best solutions to the people and communities who will benefit most from these projects.”
