Lafarge in Bangladesh Cement Joint Venture

World leader in building materials, Lafarge have announced the formation of a joint venture with Cementos Mohlins to build a cement plant in Chhatak, in Bangladesh.

Lafarge and Cementos Mohlins will own 60% of the joint venture with financial institutions and local investors retaining the balance.

The joint venture, called Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd will feature the most advanced technology and is expected to start production in 2005, with a capacity of 1.2 million tons.
