BidPrime.com, an online subscription service providing government bids and contract intelligence to businesses, released a report detailing key industries procured by federal stimulus-related government RFPs and contracts.
In the last three months, over 1400 construction project contracts have been issued or awarded. A large number these contracts lie in peripheral industries related to construction services like demolition, excavation, site work, tractor and construction rental equipment, and architectural design services bids. Another highlight in federal stimulus-related funding includes more than 400 government bids issued for IT and networking systems hardware, upgrades, and software.
"Every day we attract new clients whose business models a year ago were almost entirely reliant upon the private sector. Now many are finding their main source of revenue through winning or subcontracting government-funded bids and contracts," said Jim Ward, BidPrime's VP of Business Development. "For the amount of money on the line, it makes sense for companies to use a service like BidPrime to seek new sources of business."
In February, BidPrime tracked over 34,918 newly-issued federal, state, and local government bids across the United States. Almost 7 percent (2,341) of these government bids were funded by The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). According to the report, environmental products, services, and consulting were among industries with the largest growth in stimulus contracts in 2010. This includes solicitations for wind turbines, solar/photo-voltaic products, as well as consulting related to carbon reduction, energy efficiency, and environmental mitigation. BidPrime projects these industries to be a target of many solicitations to be released this year.
