AGC Honors MWH Constructors with Two Awards at Orlando Conference

MWH, the global wet infrastructure sector leader and provider of environmental engineering, construction and strategic consulting services, has been honored with two awards from the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) at the organization’s national conference in Orlando, Fla.

Following an oral presentation and interview with MWH Constructors President Joseph D. Adams, the firm was awarded first place in the AGC Construction Safety Excellence Award (CSEA), the industry’s most prestigious safety award, according to AGC President Doug Pruitt. The first place award was in the 250,001 to 500,000 hours worked category. The firm also received a 2010 Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering Special Recognition Award for its work as Program Manager-at-Risk with the City of Cape Coral on the $500 million Utility Extension Program.

Last month, MWH Constructors also received three safety awards for 2009 from the Colorado Contractor Association (CCA), a Colorado chapter of AGC, including the Traveling Safety Trophy for Best Overall Safety Performance in the District, the Improved Safety Award and the Zero Incidence Rate Award.

“Recognition by the Associated General Contractors of America at the national and local level is a great honor and we are thrilled to have received each of these awards,” said Adams. “MWH strives to maintain the highest standards of safety practices in our work, and these awards recognize our efforts to make safety the highest priority on all of our projects.”

The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) is the leading association for the construction industry and each year recognizes the nation's ground-breaking projects and talented contractors. The Construction Safety and Excellence Awards (CSEA) honor companies developing and implementing superior safety and loss prevention programs through management commitment, employee involvement and program innovation. The Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering Award recognizes the successful partnerships and collaborations that work to improve construction projects.

CCA is comprised of more than 370 local firms constructing everything from airports, light rail facilities, bridges and dams, highways and streets and wastewater treatment plants. MWH was honored at the local district level with the Traveling Safety Award for Best Overall Safety in Group 2, the highest safety award a member firm can receive from CCA. MWH was one of only seven firms to receive the Zero Incidence Rate Award – the third time that MWH has been awarded the distinction.

MWH Constructors is the at-risk construction arm of MWH Global, Inc. and has received numerous awards for project excellence and for being one of the nation’s safest contractors.
