Fasco America Adds New Product to its SCRAIL Deck Fastening Portfolio

Fasco America, the exclusive North American distributor of the BECK Fastener Group, recently announced the new InvisiDeck™ Hidden SCRAIL® Fastener System, an extension of their popular SCRAIL® fastener line initially introduced in 1998. This latest innovation lets deck builders win in a slow economy by allowing them to create flawlessly smooth deck board surfaces with less time and labor, a welcome advancement in deck fastening technology for homeowners and deck builders alike.

Brett McCutcheon, Fasco America’s National Sales and Marketing Manager, commented, “We had already experienced a great deal of success with our 2008 re-launch of the SCRAIL® BeckDeck™ fastener line designed for face-nailing low density composites and featuring double threads to reduce the unwanted bulge of cratering, or mushrooming. Known for having the broadest product line in the industry, it was a logical extension for us to follow up on this success with a complementary system that could deliver a clean surface without visible screw heads for grooved board applications, letting just the beauty of the deck material shine through.”

Renowned for its strength in new product innovation, the 100+ year old BECK Fastener Group leap-frogged the development cycle by striking a multi-year agreement for North American and European distribution of the patented Tiger Claw hidden I-CLP deck fastener clips and InvisiDeck™ Tool. When combined with Fasco America’s innovative SCRAIL® fasteners, this trio of components creates the basis for the dynamic new hidden deck fastening system sold under the Fasco America brand name.

McCutcheon notes, “Fasco America chose Tiger Claw as our partner for this project due to a common adherence to product quality and innovation, combined with superior customer service, and excellent industry reputation. We knew they would be the perfect partner for us in the growing composite and PVC deck market segment.”

InvisiDeck™ SCRAIL® Fasteners: Install I-CLP Clips 3 to 5 times faster than conventional installation, and feature the proprietary FasCoat™ finish, approved for all outdoor environments except extreme salinity. Stainless steel SCRAIL® fasteners are also available, for coastal and extreme salinity environments. One retail box of 930 SCRAIL® covers approx. 500 sq. ft. (46 sq. meters), enough for the average decking project. Average uplift when installed with the InvisiDeck™ Tool exceeds hold down forces needed for category 5 wind forces by 50%.

InvisiDeck™ Tool: The installation gun drives the SCRAIL® into each joist (like a nail), but it removes like a traditional screw. The Fasco-branded InvisiDeck™ Tool can cut installation in half, compared to most traditional hidden fastening clip systems.

InvisiDeck™ I-CLP Clips: Ideal for pre-grooved decking or solid edge composite and hardwood boards (grooved with the new Fasco America groove cutter) from 5/4” to 2” thick. I-CLP clips can be used in harsh or coastal environments and install quickly and easily from above the deck surface using the InvisiDeck™ Tool, or the Tiger Claw Installation Gun.

I-CLP Clips are designed for use in the following -

Sampling of composite varieties: ChoiceDek & Moisture Shield (A.E.R.T.), Brasilia, Escapes, Transcend, Contours, Origins & Accents (Trex non-grooved), Tropics, Horizon, Premium Grain & Professional (Fiberon), Latitudes & Veranda (Universal Forest Products), Earthwood, ReliaBoard & TwinFinish (TimberTech non-grooved), Evergrain & Elements (Tamko).
