Balfour Beatty Construction to Provide Preconstruction and Construction Services for Fort Worth High-Rise

Anthracite Realty Partners and Bennett Benner Partners have selected Balfour Beatty Construction to provide preconstruction and construction services for a landmark high-rise in downtown Fort Worth. Balfour Beatty is engaged in shaping the project’s final scope and contract, which includes the core, shell and interior finish-out of the new 25-story, 323,415-square-foot Class-AA commercial office tower at 640 Taylor St., which will be known as 640 Taylor.

CertainTeed Offers Health Product Declarations and Environmental Product Declarations for Drywall Products

CertainTeed announces it is the first company in the gypsum manufacturing industry to offer Health Product Declarations (HPDs) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for drywall products. The newly published HPDs and EPDs provide scientifically robust and transparent information about environmental performance and third-party verification to confirm the true sustainability of a product. The declarations also allow products to contribute towards points in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building projects.

Swinerton Completes Construction of New Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Gaslamp/Convention Center

In late October, Downtown San Diego's hotel options expanded with the opening of the new Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Gaslamp/Convention Center. Built by general contractor Swinerton Builders, the hotel is owned by J Street Hospitality. The 14-story, 90-room hotel contains all the luxuries of a Courtyard by Marriott -- with a European boutique feel.

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Opens Silver LEED-Certified Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) celebrated the grand opening of its Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care. The Family Fall Festival and ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on November 7, was designed to recognize the 4,200 donors – more than 1,300 of them CHOP employees – who helped raise over $96 million towards design and construction of the Buerger Center, the nation's most advanced outpatient facility for pediatric care.

Mall of America Installs Large SageGlass Electrochromic Glass Rotunda Skylight

SageGlass®, the world’s smartest electrochromic glass, was installed in the skylight of the oval rotunda that covers the new grand entrance and event space at the iconic Mall of America®, the nation’s largest retailer and entertainment destination. The 3,500-square-foot rotunda skylight is comprised of more than 300 panes of electronically tintable SageGlass, a product of Saint-Gobain. The SageGlass skylight will provide solar control to enhance the comfort of millions of shoppers and guests attending programs, concerts and speaking engagements being held in the Mall’s new expansion.
