World’s Largest Expo for Landscape Architects to be Held in Washington

The world’s largest gathering of landscape architects kicks off in one month, featuring environmental design experts, outdoor living displays and, despite a down economy, the event’s largest exposition in its history.

The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) 2010 Annual Meeting and EXPO takes place September 10-13 at the Washington Convention Center in downtown D.C.

This year’s keynote speakers include environmental activist Majora Carter, who will focus on urban agriculture, and public health advocate Dr. Richard Jackson on landscape architecture and human health. Also new this year is the Garden Design magazine Ultimate Outdoor Home, highlighting a series of outdoor living spaces designed by award-winning landscape architects.

With more than 400 exhibitors, the EXPO is the largest trade show in the industry including thousands of the latest products, services, technology applications and design solutions for landscape architecture professionals. The EXPO is open to the public on Sunday, September 12, for a $25 fee.

Additional highlights include:

  • More than 130 education programs with a faculty of 250 leading experts from around the globe.
  • “Inside the LA Studio” sessions with Michael Van Valkenburgh and Associates, Mario Nievera Design, Ten Eyck Landscape Architects, Vladimir Djurovic Landscape Architects and a group of Australian landscape architecture firms.
  • The opportunity to earn up to 21 Professional Development Hours, many of which will be accepted by the American Institute of Architects, the American Institute of Certified Planners, the U.S. Green Building Council and the state licensing boards of New York and Florida.
  • Networking opportunities and employment counseling through ASLA’s annual JobLink LIVE program.
