Digital Lumens Launches Lighting System for Production, Bulk Storage and Warehouse Docks

Digital Lumens, developer of the industry's first Intelligent Lighting System™, today expanded the product line with new Intelligent Light Engines specifically designed for manufacturing and other open environments -- bulk storage, non-racked storage, and warehouse docks.

As part of the Intelligent Lighting System, which integrates LEDs and controls into a single, networked solution, the 'midbay' fixtures feature Digital Lumens' market-leading integrated intelligence that maximizes energy efficiency and provides detailed operational reports and insights.

Featuring diffuse optics that distribute light evenly, the new 'midbay' Intelligent Light Engines are designed for ceiling heights that range from 15 to 30 feet and are available in two color temperatures -- neutral white and cool white -- to cover an even larger range of customer applications. Both are approved by the DesignLights Consortium (DLC) and appear on the DLC's Qualified Products List (QPL).

"With new fixtures specifically designed to address the manufacturing market, we are rapidly extending the energy-saving benefits of our Intelligent Lighting System to significant new markets," said Tom Pincince, Digital Lumens' President and CEO. "Our System, which is deployed across the country's leading warehouse and distribution facilities, is proving that high-intensity LEDs with integrated controls are the key to maximizing lighting energy efficiency in industrial settings."

"Manufacturing customers have had few compelling options that maximize both light output and energy efficiency," said Jay Boucher, President of Leading Edge Design, a Digital Lumens reseller partner. "These new Intelligent Light Engines enable us to offer the energy-savings benefits of the Digital Lumens' system to a new market, which is highly motivated to control lighting costs while improving light quality in their facilities."

The Digital Lumens midbay Intelligent Light Engines produce uniform light distribution and are designed as one-for-one upgrades of existing HID/HIF fixtures. They are typically deployed in areas with ceiling heights between 15 and 30 feet, which are traditionally addressed with lowbay or highbay solutions. They feature:

  • Diffuse light patterns with two color-temperature options -- a 4000K 'neutral white,' optimized for manufacturing and production line work, or a 6500K 'cool white' option for environments that require more intense illumination;
  • Maximum amount of light for the minimum amount of power, providing significant energy savings; and
  • Facility-wide intelligence showing fixture-, zone- or room-level energy use and occupancy, and other key operational information that provides the highest levels of lighting control and insight.

Digital Lumens has recently received significant industry recognition for the Company's innovations, including being named a 2011 World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer and a 2010 Global Cleantech 100 Company. The company also announced that Maines Paper & Food Service, Inc., a leading broadline distributor, has deployed the company's Intelligent Lighting System in its headquarters facility in Conklin, NY, and has achieved an 87% reduction in its lighting energy savings use.
