Duo-Gard to Help in Showcasing Sustainable Vertical Glazing System at Greenbuild 2010

Duo-Gard Industries Inc., a provider of translucent daylighting, architectural illumination and specialty structures, today announced its participation in bringing LUMENHAUS to Greenbuild 2010 in Chicago.

LUMENHAUS, Virginia Tech’s winning entry to the European Solar Decathlon, is a zero-energy home that is completely powered by the sun. Duo-Gard contributed its energy-efficient vertical glazing system to the home, which will be located in Millennium Park November 16-18.

“LUMENHAUS is a truly sustainable architectural structure that pushes the limits of design, technology and innovation,” said David Miller, president of Duo-Gard. “What Virginia Tech has accomplished with this home is remarkable. To have our energy-efficient, vertical glazing building solutions incorporated is a prestigious honor, and we look forward to assisting in the showcase of LUMENHAUS during this year’s Greenbuild.”

LUMENHAUS utilizes an optimal building design and leverages the most advanced technologies to maximize user comfort and environmental protection. By incorporating Duo-Gard’s vertical glazing system, specifically its Series 3000 BPC 40mm tongue and grove system filled with Nanogel, LUMENHAUS obtains a U-value of .1 and light transmittance of 33 percent. Additionally, Duo-Gard’s lightweight, easy to install solution is 100 percent recyclable.

Duo-Gard will be hosting an exclusive media tour of the home on Wednesday, November 17 at 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., followed by a VIP architectural reception from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
