Insulfoam and Premier Building Systems Combine Production Operations

Premier Building Systems, North America’s largest structural insulated panel (SIP) producer, is consolidating its manufacturing operations with those of its parent company, Insulfoam.

As of October 31, 2010, Premier began with the relocation of its Phoenix, Arizona, facility to an Insulfoam plant in Dixon, California. The company will also move from its Fife, Washington, plant to Insulfoam’s Tacoma, Washington, facility in 2011. Because a major component of Premier SIPs is expanded polystyrene foam (EPS) made by Insulfoam, the collocation will allow the companies to streamline operations, better plan and manage production capacity, control costs, and enable future expansion. Both Premier Building Systems and Insulfoam are part of Carlisle Construction Materials, Incorporated.

Premier SIPs are strong, straight and predictable for construction

"As demand grows for energy-efficient homes and buildings, SIPs will be a key part of the solution,” says James Hodgson, General Manager, Premier Building Systems. “Moving our production into Insulfoam facilities enables a number of cost efficiencies, plus sets the stage for potential additional SIPs production capacity in other Insulfoam plants in the West, Midwest and East.”

“Insulfoam has plants in a number of key SIPs markets, so this consolidation with Premier opens new opportunities to serve customers more directly,” adds Pat McGrady, President of Insulfoam. “For example, our Dixon, California, facility is strategically located between the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento. California is a natural market for SIPs growth given its Title 24 requirements for net-zero energy homes by 2020 and commercial buildings by 2030.”

Premier SIPs provide an environmentally friendly advanced building alternative to traditional stick-built framing and other construction methods. They are strong, straight and predictable for wall, roof and floor construction. The large-section panels install fast, helping reduce building cycle time and jobsite labor. Premier SIPs provide superior insulating values to help reduce heating and cooling requirements up to 60 percent, and help reduce jobsite waste up to two-thirds. They can also help contribute toward points in leading green building programs, including up to 46 points in LEED® for Homes and up to 39 points in LEED® for New Construction.
