Solar Innovations Launches New Mulled Window and Door System

Solar Innovations, Inc., a custom manufacturer of residential and commercial windows and doors; greenhouses; conservatories; sunrooms; skylights; folding, sliding, and stacking walls and screens; introduces a Mulled Window and Door System.

The new Mulled Window and Door System has been designed to maximize flexibility by joining a series of operable windows and swing doors to create one cohesive system without additional rafters or framing, while maintaining consistent, minimally interrupted site lines. Solar Innovations® is proud to bring to market one of the most flexible window wall systems available in the industry today.

Flexibility is one of the distinguishing factors of any Solar Innovations® product. "This new system allows end users to make unique selections and provides flexibility in design by integrating awning, casement, hopper, fixed, Tilt Turn, and egress windows (depending on local code) all within the same unit." This 4-inch site line system creates a modern, sleek, customizable option for any project. Another exclusive feature Solar Innovations® provides to customers is the ability to select both in-swing or out-swing windows within the same system, unlike many competitors' systems which can accommodate only one option. In-swing and out-swing terrace doors, with ADA compliant sills, can be mulled into the window system. Fixed transoms can also be added to the Mulled System over both windows and terrace doors. This level of customization allows designers to create a unique system for any application.

Additionally, Solar Innovations® expects to obtain Energy Star product approval for this system during 2011 as it provides superior thermal performance, in part due to the insulbar technology systems. Initial testing of the Mulled Window and Door System with 1 ½ to 1 ¾ inch insulated, triple-pane, low-E glass provided a U-value of .34 and a solar heat gain coefficient of .25, much better performance than a traditional, double-pane window.

As with all Solar Innovations, Inc.'s products, the units are available in wood veneers, various claddings, and standard or custom color finishes. Duracron and anodized aluminum finishes include Bronze, White, Hartford Green, Sandstone, Natural Clay, Black, Class I Clear Anodize, and Dark Bronze Anodize. A wood veneer interior makes the system an excellent wood window alternative; standard options include Mahogany, Pine or Fir veneer; upon special request, additional veneers are available based on their market availability.

Solar Innovations, Inc. is also able to source nearly any glass on the market including low-E, decorative, laminated, and tinted glass options. This increases customers' abilities to control performance, light transmittance, and overall project design. Solar Innovations® also offers shade systems that can be added to the Mulled Window and Door System for additional light control.
