A partnership venture between Leighton Contractors, a fully owned auxiliary of Leighton Holdings, and Opus International Consultants, has received an Integrated Services Arrangement (ISA) worth $191 million from Main Roads WA.
The award will require the partnership to provide its services for a period of five years in the Wheat-belt area in Western Australia.
The partnership venture of Leighton and Opus will work jointly with Main Roads Western Australia to improve the conditions of its regional road network and offer upkeep services for them. The maintenance services provided by the JV include sustaining of network functions, useable asset management, and managing the related projects.
According to Peter Hicks, Leighton Contractor’s Executive General Manager, the company will utilize its exposure and expertise in road operations and the sustaining services it gained in association with Main Roads WA in the Eastern States in bettering the roads in the Wheatbelt and maintaining them. He added that the partnership will operate along with the local community to allow the local employees, suppliers and sub-contractors involved in the project to make use of its offered training programs and its sophisticated management systems and benefit from them.
The Wheatbelt ISA unit is expected to begin its service offerings in March. The team will manage and upkeep around 3,400 km of main roads spread all over the Wheatbelt covering from Northam to Southern Cross and Moora to Wagin.
