Five Senior Living Residences Chosen for Special Honors

The November/December 2012 issue of Senior Living Executive, the flagship magazine of the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA), highlights some of the most cutting-edge and creative architecture, interiors, and outdoor spaces found in senior living communities today.

The annual Senior Living By Design Awards program showcases diverse projects that marry innovative design with functionality and beauty, honor resident choice, and promote independence. Judges Victor Regnier, FAIA of the University of Southern California and Susan Rodiek Ph.D., NCARB, EDAC of Texas A&M University—both well-known experts in senior living design—chose five senior living residences for special honors, including the following:

  •   Grand Prize: Taube Koret Campus for Jewish Life, Palo Alto, CA, designed by Steinberg Architects, San Francisco, CA
  •   Award of Excellence: Atria Tamalpais Creek, Novato, CA, designed by GGLO Architects, Seattle, WA
  •   Award of Excellence: White Oak Cottages at Fox Hill Village, Westwood, MA, designed by Cutler Associates, Worcester, MA
  •   Citation: Allegro, Stuart, FL, designed by PQH Architects, Jacksonville, FL
  •   Citation: Christian Community Home, Osceola, WI, designed by Community Living Solutions, Appleton, WI
