Watson Bowman Acme Releases High Performance Seismic Joint System

Watson Bowman Acme, a BASF company and leader in expansion control systems for the construction industry, today announced the release of Wabo ® Seismic SafetyFlex, a system specifically designed to accommodate wider joint openings and rapidly accelerating multi-directional movement.

“The Wabo ® Seismic SafetyFlex’s robust design provides for a high performance seismic joint system, and the rubber encapsulated metal components effectively reduce sound intrusion,” said Rick Patterson, Business Director for Watson Bowman Acme. “The system maintains its durability by allowing the slide plate to return to its original position after seismic activity, whereas conventional metallic cover plate systems often prove to be very noisy during traffic impact and dynamic movements.”

Wabo ® Seismic SafetyFlex is an elastomeric molded cover plate system that accommodates multi-directional movement and heavy loading subject to seismic activity. To enhance the system’s durability and prevent corrosion, the metal plates are encapsulated inside a molded rubber cover. This system is intended for installation in stadiums and parking decks, airports, commercial buildings and other sizable structures incorporating heavy traffic, large openings and multi-directional movement potential.

Watson Bowman Acme offers a complete line of custom designed expansion control systems for the parking deck applications, including Wabo®BusTuff, Jeene®, Wabo®Crete StripSeal, Wabo®CreteMembrane, Wabo®WeatherSeam, Wabo®WaterTite, Wabo®ElastoFlex parking series and Wabo®Seismic Span II.
