David Weekley Homes Honors Johns Manville with Partner of Choice Award

Johns Manville (JM), a global building products manufacturer, was one of only 13 companies nationwide to be named a “Partner of Choice” by the nation’s third largest privately held residential homebuilder, David Weekley Homes.

The prestigious and highly selective “Partner of Choice” award recognizes the home builder’s strongest performing suppliers as part of its rigorous supplier evaluation platform. This year, Johns Manville earned an “AA” award for excellence in product quality.

“The breadth and depth of our evaluation platform does not allow a supplier to simply talk their way to high scores,” said Bill Justus, vice president of supply chain services and developer of the home builder’s unique evaluation process. “Partners must not only exhibit commitment but must apply it through their actions every day in order to become a David Weekley Homes award winner. Johns Manville has demonstrated through their actions that they are truly one of our best partners in delivering quality and service to our team.”

“Johns Manville is honored to be the only insulation manufacturer to earn this recognition for superior product quality,” said Fred Stephan, senior vice president of Insulation Systems at Johns Manville. “We’re fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with David Weekley Homes as a one-stop shop for all their project requirements. They are a top-tier builder with talented professionals, and we value our relationship and the recognition.”

David Weekley Homes implemented its comprehensive supplier evaluation system, the “Partner of Choice” award, in 2004. The unique evaluation platform allows David Weekley Homes to analyze supplier performance in diverse industries, provide feedback and recognize those truly outstanding achievers through its coveted award. Under this process, David Weekley Homes team members are first asked to rate each supplier’s performance in product quality and service. Then, through a series of follow-up discussions, meetings and coaching calls, David Weekley Homes and its suppliers identify the best way to achieve excellence together.

JM offers a comprehensive line of building insulation products, and the portfolio continues to grow. JM recently added two new residential mineral wool products — TempControl™ batts and Sound & Fire Block™ batts. In addition to offering excellent thermal and acoustical performance, TempControl batts and Sound & Fire Block batts have a melting point in excess of 2000°F to help delay fire spread.

This year, JM’s entire line of interior and exterior foam sheathing has received International Code Council Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) approval, including CI Max®, CI Max White® and JM APTM Foil-Faced Foam Sheathing.

In addition, JM’s complete line of Formaldehyde-free™ fiber glass building insulation has received GREENGUARD Gold certification from UL Environment. This certification provides assurance that JM fiberglass building insulation products meet some of the world's most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into indoor air.
