With the knowledge that up to 80 percent of construction problems are water related, Georgia-Pacific introduced a solution to the industry's water woes with its new DensElement™ Barrier System.
Up to 80 percent of construction problems are water related. To combat the problem, DensElementâ„¢ is a sheathing system for exterior wall construction that incorporates a water and air barrier directly onto a gypsum panel for an all-in-one solution.
Water infiltration is a main culprit to many commercial building projects. To combat the problem, DensElement™ is a sheathing system for exterior wall construction that incorporates a water and air barrier directly onto a gypsum panel for an all-in-one solution. A separate weather barrier isn't needed, so it eliminates an entire step in the construction process.
"Products on the market today that cover the entire face of the sheathing, like building wrap and peel-and-stick membranes, are time-consuming and labor-intensive to install," said Jason Peace, director of product management and marketing for Georgia-Pacific Gypsum. "In some cases, they prevent moisture from escaping the wall cavity, causing harmful mold, mildew or deterioration."
The DensElement Barrier System was tested by the Home Innovation Research Labs™ in a Time-Motion Study and results indicated up to a 40 percent reduction of installation hours when compared to similar products.
DensElement Barrier System offers architects, specifiers and contractors a performance-tested solution for building construction. In rigorous lab testing and job sites, the system has proven time savings, reduced skilled labor needs, and saved bottom-line costs.
The new DensElement™ Barrier System builds off of Georgia-Pacific's 30-year reputation for innovative construction materials and the newest extension of the company's trusted Dens® line of building products.
