San Francisco based company “QuaKit” has launched a unique service offering customized disaster recovery services to homeowners and their families. By providing this new service, residents can now feel secure in the fact that they are prepared and ready for any natural disaster and are equipped to survive the elements should evacuations occur. The custom kit is installed outside the family home and kept replenished with fresh food annually.
“Our aim is to take the hassle out of disaster preparedness,” said QuaKit owner Colm Pelow. We’ve discovered that there are plenty of people out there still thinking about having a kit, and just never get around to putting it together. We’ve spoken to so many folks who have a few items, but few have really considered what they might need in the event of an evacuation.”
The QuaKit team makes sure you’ve thought the whole thing through and have done all of the hardwork in pulling together the items you need. In addition they work with every customer to make sure any special needs are taken care of. From masking tape all the way through to well thought out nutritious meals, they’ve considered everything!
“I think we’ve learned a lot from Katrina as well as the 1989 earthquake here in the Bay area, it’s been very interesting when you actually speak to people who’ve been through the whole experience,” adds Kathryn Gunning, Colm’s business partner. “We realize it’s important to have everything from copies of important documents, to pet supplies, as well as good food and water supplies. Being evacuated is going to be tough enough. We’re hoping our kits will provide not only the necessities, but more than that.
“Comfort and warmth will be very important in a time of crisis, “adds Colm. “It’ll be crucial to know that all your immediate needs can be met, plus we’ll service the kits on an annual basis to insure they’re up to date.”
